The workshop provides an opportunity to broaden knowledge about the application of Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) along with a four-step estimation procedure of input-distance functions.
During the workshop, two research papers will be presented. The first one titled “Eco-efficiency and shadow prices of GHG emissions in EU regions” investigates eco-efficiency and the shadow price of GHG emissions in 133 FADN regions. The study aims to investigate farm eco-efficiency in the EU using the Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) approach treating GHG emissions as an undesirable output and estimating the price of these emissions using the concept of shadow prices.
The second paper titled “Scale efficiency in EU milk production: what are the consequences of milk quota abolition?” examines the EU milk sector dynamics through the scale efficiency in the context of the abolition of milk quotas. The regional analysis is conducted for 24 European countries in period 2004–2017. To control for potential endogeneity, a four-step estimation procedure of input-distance functions is used on farm-level data.
The workshop is organized within the research project (reg. no.: CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/18_053/0016979) “Supporting the development of international mobility of research, technical, and administrative staff at CULS Prague” (PROMO II).
The results of the research represent partial solution of the project QK1920398 (the Applied Research Program of the Ministry of Agriculture for the period 2017-2025 ZEMĚ) financed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, NAZV.
