The Department of Economics was the initiating department of the Faculty of Economics and Management. It has always been determining the basic focus of the whole faculty. The current demands of the society has been constantly monitored and appropriate changes has been implemented into the structure of educational curriculums and scientific research. The department also initiates cooperation with business community, national institutions and foreign knowledge and practise.
To the activities of the Department of Economics belong extensive scientific research and publishing, contribution to the improvement of education in population by numerous successful PhD candidates and candidates for the associate professors or professors titles, definition of curriculums for both Czech and English taught study programmes, development of advanced forms of internationalization, organization of conferences etc.
The departments provides 280 courses taught within the majority of CZU’ study programmes. The core courses taught in Czech and English are - The economics of agrarian sector, Econometrics, Economics of enterprises, Economic policies, Economics of public sector and Managerial economics.
The department significantly contributed to a strong competitive advantage and therefore easier employment of the FEM graduates.
